Pigeon & Bird Articles – 3D Printed Bird Toys
Some of you might wonder if it is possible safely 3D print toys for us pigeons, and the short answer to this will be yes.
However! There are quite a few things which you should take into consideration when doing so. My awesome pet human (aka dad) has written a very extensive and detailed article on his blog about this topic in particular, which I highly recommend reading if you’re thinking about making (3D printing) toys for your pigeon(s).
You can find the article here: 3D Printing for Pigeons (Safety and Tip)
I will list a small summary of it here, but please do realize that this is just a VERY brief summary:
- DO NOT use resin 3D printers in the same home as your pigeon
- DO NOT use toys and such printed with a resin printer for your pigeon
- DO NOT 3D print in the same room (preferably) even the same floor as your pigeon with an filament based (FDM) printer
- Only use either PLA or PETG for pigeon projects
- DO NOT use (possibly toxic) bed/build-plate-adhesives or print on a build-plate on which you previously used them!
- DO NOT paint models which you printed for your pigeon (instead print it multi part so you can use multi-color parts or leave it at one color)
- Make sure that there are no small parts which can accidentally break of
- Make sure that you only use filament which doesn’t contain toxic additives
- Don’t print objects which are so small that they could accidentally be eaten by us pigeons
- Always supervise your pigeon when he/she is playing with toys (any toys! not just 3D printed ones though!)
- Realize that 3D printing toys for your pigeon is 100% at your own risk and responsibility
Yet again, I would really recommend checking out my pet human’s article in regards to this topic, it’s really worth it😊
And personally? I absolutely LOVE my 3D printed furniture and toys 🥰
