No more Uber for this pigeon!

Well, visiting the parents of my spare human (mom) for new years day turned out to be quite a hassle. And no: It was not due to me, my pet humans or the parents of my spare human. It was due to Uber actually!

Around 15:00 my pet human(s) decided to take a Uber for a change, they had already tried ordering an Uber about half a year before I ‘moved in’ and that wasn’t a success (either) because there was no Uber available back then. This time they thought: “Well maybe it was busy back then, let’s just give it another try🤷🏽‍♀️.

So they setup a new account, entered all details, linked their PayPal account to it, then verified their phone number etc etc…. Then they entered the departure and destination addresses and instantly it showed an Uber X being available within 8 minutes from our current location.

GREAT they thought. Another one even popped up as option but that one was about 11 minutes from our current location. So they clicked on the button to confirm and order the Uber.

While the website showed it was connecting us to a driver, the available car was even getting closer already on the map above the ‘connecting to a driver message’ but……..

We waited…. and waited… and waited… Then another popup came and said that we could “upgrade” for €4,- to “Uber Premium” for lower waiting times.

Mind you: We where by now already waiting for 5 minutes or so and two “available” Ubers where both in range of about 4 and 6 minutes.

We declined the “Premium Offer” and waited for 10 to 15 more minutes… still no connection with any driver!

So my pet humans canceled and tried once again, but this time they installed the app (which again required to verify the phone number, email etc etc), and walked through the whole procedure again to ordered an Uber. This time they did accepted the “4€ Permium Offer“, bit this did not helped at all either.

Around 16:00 they decided we would then go to my spare human’s parents on our own.

Later that night when we wanted to go back home, my pet humans (stupidly enough) tried to order an Uber once again. And again it was exactly the same story as before: The app showed several Ubers “available“, and it also showed that yet again one Ubers was approximately 7 minutes from our current location….

But guess what? Another 25 minutes later and still no Uber 🤦🏽‍♀️

And thus we had to go back home on our own again.

I’ve learned my lesson, and so did my pet humans. We will never ever order an Uber anymore. This was seriously the worst taxi and/or ‘public transport’ I ever had as a pigeon, and it didn’t even got me anywhere 🤦🏽‍♀️ (Keep in mind that me and my pet humans have used a lot of taxi and public transport services with me, and none had these kind of issues)

I seriously hope that your experiances with Uber will be (or where) better than mine, but I won’t be using them anymore.

The rest of the day (aside from the ‘Uber incident’) was great though, we had a great time, ate good food and I had lots of snacks🥰

Thank You

Thank you for your interest in my Pigeon Blog, and I hope you enjoyed reading article about this experiance 😊

Hope to see you next time again,
